to Redlands California Redlands is a beautiful city in Southern California known for its orange Orchard just Historic downtown and vibrant art scene so if you think about moving to Redlands I’m sure you got a lot of questions that’s why today I’m going to be going over my top five frequent asked questions about moving to Redlands so let’s Dive Right In stay tuned for number five for it has one of my favorite reasons question number one what makes Redlands a great place to live first things first let’s talk about what makes Redlands such an appealing place to call home with its Historic downtown tree-lined streets and stunning views of the San Bernardino Mountains Redlands offers unique blend of small town small town charm and modern amenities the city is known for its excellent schools vibrant art scene and a variety of outdoor activities for nature enthusiasts living in Redlands news becoming part of a tight-knit and friendly Community the city hosts a range of events throughout the year from farmers markets to cultural festivals creating opportunities to connect with all of your neighbors the downtown area where I’m at right now is the Hub of all the activity with boutiques restaurants and cafes it’s a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere whether you’re into biking hiking or enjoying the Leisure day at the park Redland has something for everyone all right so question number two I always get is what is the weather like in Redlands so Redlands has a Mediterranean type climate which means that we have hot dry Summers and Mild wet Winters the average temperature in Redlands range ranges from about 60 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter to about 90 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer one thing that really amazes me about the temperature here in the weather is that there’s a big swing in the temperatures from night to the days so from the day highs to the night lows oftentimes as much as 30 degrees or more for example today the high will be 103 104 degrees with overnight temperatures going down to the mid 70s just kind of crazy so during the winter months which is typically the span of you know December to February Redlands experiences cooler temperatures average you know daytime highs range from the mid 60s to the low 70s while nighttime lows can drop into the 40s and occasionally even hit the 30s not too often rainfall is more common during this time of year with a periodic rain showers contributing to the overall annual precipitation in the area so Redlands in the summer which is generally occurs from June to August sometimes longer which is usually hot in dry weather average day temperatures can soar into the 90s and occasionally with the week with days or weeks exceeding the hundreds like this week we get a lot of sun also with mostly clear skies and minimal cloud cover as a result Redlands lately experiencing the last few years drought conditions leading to a lot of water conservative efforts spring is typically march to May and fall is September to November you know similar to each year you know in Redlands this time of year tends to bring more moderate temperatures with comfortable cooler nights and days and so spring is the emergence of the new growth and blooming flowers we get every year in the fall it has a gentle shift towards cooler weather around the holidays one thing to really make sure I mention is the Santa Ana winds is something that we get comes down to Santa Ana you know from like the uh the mountains and your strong dry winds that blow the Inland Empire towards the coast and usually it’s like a day or two they can lead to increased fire danger especially during the dry months as they quickly dry out vegetation hi we haven’t met yet my name is Thomas Jackson the Redlands real estate guy if this is your first time to the channel and you want to learn everything of what it’s like to work eat sleep live play and what’s going on right here in Redlands make all right so question number three I get a lot is what is the job market like here in Redlands Redlands is actually located in the Inland Empire region of Southern California it has a diverse economy which includes various Industries such as education Healthcare Professional Services technology and a lot more the city has become home to several universities and hospitals which contribute to the thriving education sector including the University of Redlands the Redlands Unified School District Redlands Community Hospital and the Loma Linda University Medical Center there’s also the VA Hospital which isn’t too far away just down the street additionally Redlands is continually located near some major employment hubs which opens up to more possibilities so some residents commute to neighboring cities in the Inland Empire even towards Los Angeles and Orange County for work Redlands has a strong presence of technology and Professional Services the city is known for being the headquarters of esri or esri depending on how long you’ve been around what it is is is environmental systems Research Institute it’s a global leader in the geographic information GIS software so the job market in Redlands seems really strong with what the relatively low unemployment rate and there’s all kinds of different shops everywhere downtown all the major brands in Mountain Grove and citrus Plaza for retail type things and then just all kinds of different services and everything you can think of from fast food to Professional Service all right so the fourth question I always get is what is education and Healthcare look like in Redlands so in Redlands we see several different educational choices depending on the level of Education you may be looking for for the kiddos we have all the public schools that are served by the Redlands Unified School District which operates you know several elementary schools middle schools and high schools in the area the district focuses on providing quality education for local students in addition to public schools there are a lot of private schools in Redlands that offer alternative educational options for students for colleges the big we have is the University of Redlands which is a private liberal arts University located here in the city it offers a range of undergraduate graduate and professional programs across various disciplines the university contributes significantly to the educational landscape of the city and provides a source of employment for faculty and staff for healthcare medical scene Redlands has a number of medical facilities and health care providers that offer a range of medical services this includes General Practitioners Specialists clinics urgent care centers and the big one here in town is the Redlands Community Hospital it’s one of our major health cares in the city it offers a range of medical service include emergency ER surgery maternity care more Redlands offers also a wellness and specialty services such as physically there physical therapist centers chiropractic clinics Mental Health Services more we also have Kaiser Hospital in Redlands the VA avatory Care Center in Loma Linda Medical Center is just down the street also the fifth question I always get is what is there to do around Redlands so let’s check it out all right so so many different things start in Downtown Redlands so this right here is the Downtown Redlands Art Walk that happened earlier this year it’s basically when they close off Downtown Redlands and they allow everybody to walk on the streets and so on this particular occasion they had over 50 artists with things on display and then they had a car show in the middle of it along with the art of motorcycles with it too when you go downtown Redlands you have to check out umbrella alley which is an alley with all the umbrellas and murals all over and this is Hannah’s Wings everybody gets a photo there people’s come to visit check it all out take photos and then there’s several restaurants on the umbrella alley also for some food there are tons of famous murals on the walls throughout if you’ve never seen a cannon fire in person you gotta check it out it’s right behind the AK Smiley library in front of the Lincoln Memorial Shrine it’s definitely a fun thing and very loud fire then there’s a residence bicycle classic which they closed down a bunch of streets Downtown Redlands and throughout town for the races throughout the weekend [Applause] this last Memorial weekend there was the art and Park which is also the Redlands Festival the Arts and then the used art expo where archers come from all over to sell the art pieces straight ahead is the Lincoln Memorial Shrine which is also open during this time period where you can go in and learn everything about Abraham Lincoln this is actually the largest collection of Abraham Lincoln memorabilia west of the Mississippi River [Music] my kids always like pop it in real quick just a little like Museum type thing that they could check out they had several activities for the kids including face painters which they all got a kick out of [Music] [Music] under one of the largest tents was a really cool spot for the kids to make some of their own artwork with watercolors another fun event is the annual Redlands firefighters car show which this year they did Downtown Redlands as you walk up and down the State Street there’s all kinds of food and refreshments there’s a beer garden a pretty cool kid Zone you know they always do like live music and like opportunity drawings that kind of thing and so it’s definitely a fun thing to go to you get to see the cars lots of people churn out for the car shows foreign you name it and they probably have that kind of car here okay this is the annual Redlands Tetra truck event that happens every year typically it’s at the University of Redlands and it’s where families can come and actually touch and feel and climb into big vehicles you know cop cars trucks tractors everything honk the horns and do all kinds of cool stuff there’s all kinds of photo opportunities like the one with this Transformer in the morning when it first started it’s kind of like a quiet zone or quiet couple hours where there’s aren’t a lot of loud noise and after that kids are honking the horns and making all kinds of noise and having all kinds of fun you can even go inside the helicopters for Cal Fire in the Sheriff’s Department these are really popular and if you get there early enough in the day you can see them actually land [Music] kids really love getting in the helicopters coffee can you say you were in the highway patrol helicopter so again reach out to us nights weekends days you know whatever uh we got you back when moving to Redlands and surrounding areas.
